MIREIA JUANALS

Mireia Juanals is a multidisciplinary artist and playwright based in Barcelona. She trained specializing in collective creation theater and physical theater at East 15 in London, with study stays at the Moscow State Institute of Theater Arts and receiving the Carlos Uriona International Mobility Grant for Young Creators in Ashfield, Massachusetts. Mireia's artistic practice focuses on the intersection between politics and corporeality, shared affectivity and collective creative processes. Her themes critically address issues rooted in feminism and new theatrical proposals in unconventional spaces. That is why in her research, focused on the procedural question as part of the work, she proposes open conversations with the artistic institution and generates counter-hegemonic narratives.

VANESA PEÑA ALARCÓN

Vanesa Peña Alarcón is an art curator, producer and researcher specializing in visual culture. She lives and works between Madrid and Barcelona. Her practice focuses on the conceptual and critical manifestations that emerge from contemporary art, its interdisciplinary intersections and its theoretical approaches. With a particular interest in expanding exhibition and performative formats through the mobilization of narratives and fictions in individual and collective memory, she explores the relationships and limits between perception and (de)construction to renegotiate both spaces and stories. Graduated in Art History and Master's in Research in Theory and Criticism of Culture, she has received grants such as the MAEC-AECID for training in cultural management abroad, FARO, Art Investigation Program Casa Planas or the residency grant abroad for young artists and curators in the field of Visual Arts 2021. Considering herself a cultural worker, her projects have taken the form of research stays, residencies, publications, exhibitions and performances in China (Instituto Cervantes de Shanghai, Lycée Français), United States (Embassy of Spain in Washington DC), Germany (SomoS Arthouse Berlin, Kastanien Projektraum and Andenbuch), Mexico (ElPatio/Zona MACO Art Baja California Sur), Spain (Arxiu Casa Planas, FotoNostrum, Galeria h20, Fabra i Coats, Festival Concéntrico), among others. Co-founder of artistic associations and platforms, lecturer and art advisor, she currently collaborates independently with artists, galleries and cultural institutions.

GEMMA ORTEGA

Gemma Ortega is an actress, director and creator based in Barcelona. The basis of her practice is focused on collective creation theatre and social dynamization theatre. With a particular interest in the link between pedagogy and the performing arts, she also teaches acting workshops and creation laboratories in various spaces in Barcelona, including the Complot Escènic acting school. Her artistic discipline is focused on the benefits of healing, free expression and social collectivity that arise during the process of creating works with the artists she works with. Trained in renowned institutions, such as the Nancy Tuñón and Jordi Oliver Academy in Barcelona, Giles Foreman Centre for Acting in London, East 15 Acting School in London, and the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts in Moscow. She made her debut as a playwright and director in 2018 with Panopticon, her first original play, presented in the UK, which marks the beginning of her career as a creator, alongside her existing career as an actress. She has presented her works at festivals such as Camden Fringe, Digitally Charged and Russian Seasons, and has performed in international venues such as The Space Theatre, Bridewell Theatre and the GITIS Theatre.
